No more photos as yet, that would be too much of a give-away. Glue-up is complete, and shaping is almost done too. The mechanical part seems to work well enough, and the top is an excellent fit.
Finish will be applied this evening. Most likely shellac with a beeswax polish. The wax may not be the best choice as this piece was designed to be handled. After the finish is applied, I need to part it off from the glue block. That should prove interesting.
I reckon that either later this evening, or tomorrow, I should be ready to unveil my latest “masterpiece” to all.
A small thistle-like shape is included in the mechanical part of the design. I think this is my first with moving parts inside. At least, moving parts that are intended to move…….
