Last weekend saw me married to my best friend for 25 years. 25 years! It’s a lifetime for some people. The weekend was fantastic, on tour with the wee dug. (That’s little dog to those of a non-Scots persuasion)
I gave my car a little run too, for the first time in a while. Normally all it ever gets is driven back & forth to work. The MOT test is due at the end of August, but I will be presenting it at the end of this month. Hopefully, after that, it can be put up for sale. Now all the work the previous owner paid for to be done has actually been completed it is in a good condition for selling. I’m not in any hurry to sell, and if it doesn’t sell then I’m happy enough to keep it. I just feel it is being under-driven and would be better going to someone who will give it the use it needs.
This weekend then, saw me turn yet another travel mug. This one is ash from Blairgowrie in Perthshire.
I turned another comfort pen for an arthritis sufferer from some spalted beech. I’ve had this piece of tree since 2011, but the actual tree must have been in the region of a few hundred years old judging by the rings. The base was around 3 feet in diameter.
The finish on this is, as ever, super-glue polished to a high sheen.
Next step is to get on with my plans for a new shed. The old one still works, but is elderly and starting to show signs of wear.
